Appearance:

Eye color: Emerald

Fur color: She’s a red squirrel with white fur beneath her chin and across her chest. A silver stripe resides betwixt her eyes; a mark of her heritage. Her headfur is tinged silver with most of the glittering strands extending to the middle of her back. The front of her headfur is cut a little shorter and just brushes her shoulders.

Clothing: She typically wears a green or white tunic with a brown skirt. At times, her shirt is accompanied by a black corset. During formal occasions, she wears a green gown with an ebony belt and long, flowing sleeves. SilverRose is usually sensible about her clothing, leaving it loose enough to allow free movement. When in battle, she wears breeches, a tunic over chain mail, gloves, wrappings for her footpaws, and her headfur is tied back in a tight braid. She wears her twin daggers on her hips, and her bow and quiver on her back.

SilverRose favors earth colors. In her opinion, anything too bright and extravagant is just asking for trouble, especially if worn out in the woods. She does her best to look well-groomed, but she tries not to flaunt her beauty. She doesn’t think that it’s becoming of a wife.

Jewelry: She wears a red rose locket with vines on the silver chain. SilverRose received this from her mother as a child and she rarely takes it off. There is a wedding ring on her left paw. Bracelets and earrings sometimes adorn her body as well.

Personality: SilverRose has a pretty calm disposition. After years of training, she has mostly learned to control her anger in stressful situations. She’s a very protective mother and wife, willing to put her own life at risk to save her family. SilverRose is known for her caring nature. Many creatures find it easy to trust, her and she’s a good mediator during disputes. She’s grown up a lot over the years and though she still suffers from her nightmares now and again, she does not allow them to consume her. As a healer, she values life over death so she does not fight unless she has to. She despises poisons and she’s scolded creatures more than once for using poisoned blades, including her very own husband. SilverRose is a strict healer and will do what she thinks is best for her patient, even if it means drugging the creature to keep him or her in bed.

SilverRose is a poet at heart, so she typically carries around a small book to write in. She likes telling stories, especially to the dibbuns. She has also taught other creatures to read, write, and heal. Since marrying Akira, she has become a lot happier. She treats each day as a new adventure and she tries to live it to its fullest. Now, while Akira has done a lot for her, SilverRose can still stand on her on. At times, she is very independent and she is never afraid to take charge in a rough situation. She has her flaws, just as every creature does, and she tries to learn from her mistakes.

As a mother, SilverRose practically dotes on Narika. She’s had to stop herself plenty of times from spoiling the little maid, though Narika seems to find a way to twist SilverRose around her little finger. Between Silver and Akira, she’s probably the stricter parent. After her past experiences, she does not want Narika to follow her footsteps and get hurt.

Skills and weaponry: She’s a proficient healer and writer. SilverRose has the qualities of a teacher and she is willing to educate anyone. She also has a rather lovely voice, though she rarely sings. For weapons, she favors twin daggers, her bow, as well as a quarterstaff. She’s skilled with a sword, but she does not use it very often.

History:

(Before Rp)

SilverRose Brighteye was born at Redwall to Flashpaw and Rosefern Brighteye. From a young age, SilverRose was a troublemaker. She liked to sneak into the kitchen and make a mess of the place while searching for extra sweets. Some of the dibbuns called her a bully because she always took charge of the games they played. Hoping to qualm her rough personality, Flashpaw took it upon himself to teach his daughters the ways of the healer. He worked in the infirmary day and night while Rosefern taught young warriors archery. SilverRose was quick to learn the ways of healing. She often watched Flashpaw when he tended to other creatures, and she soon learned about the herbs that could save or hurt a beast.

While Flashpaw taught her how to heal, Rosefern taught her daughter the art of defense through archery. SilverRose grew accustomed to the long bow, and she also learned how to use daggers as close-range weapons. During these lessons, Rosefern warned her daughter that the blade should never be used unless under the most dire of circumstances. SilverRose grew to respect her mother’s wishes and never raised a paw to any other creature while at the abbey.

When SilverRose turned 5 seasons old, she was given her first journal. Flashpaw and Rosefern both taught her to read and write. At first, she just recorded her thoughts and feelings, but as time passed, she wrote poetry and short stories. She still has a knack for writing today.

At age 6, SilverRose traveled with her mother and father to Salamandastron visit the badger lord and the hares. Long ago, Rosefern had lived at the mountain and developed many friendships. They packed up their belongings one night and left for the mountain with SilverRose carrying her journal and miniature healer’s pouch.

Upon her arrival at Salamandastron, SilverRose was very shy around her mother’s old friends. It wasn’t until she met a young hare named Medow that she actually found a reason to call Salamandastron home. Medow was a guardian to the young squirrel while SilverRose’s parents spent time with the adults. She taught SilverRose how to use the quarterstaff, though the first few practices resulted in a lot of bruises on the young squirrel’s body. Still, she learned how to use the weapon and she has excelled with her skills since.

Shortly after their arrival, a horde of vermin attacked the mountain. Rosefern fought valiantly with the hares while Flashpaw tended to the wounded. During the war, SilverRose received her first glimpse of battle and was amazed. She wanted to be out fighting with the gallant hares, not living a safe life back at the Abbey. She saw the medals that adorned warriors breasts and heard their fantastic tales of adventure. SilverRose began to long for the same kind of adventure, unaware of the consequences of a warrior’s life. Yes, she knew that creatures got hurt, but she always assumed that her father could heal them. Death was not a concept that SilverRose understood, nor would she understand until several years later.

With the war ended, and after spending a few years at Salamandastron, Rosefern and Flashpaw decided that it was time to go back to Redwall. However, SilverRose didn’t want to leave. At age 13, she wanted to go on her own adventures. She tried to explain to her parents how much exploring meant to her, but they stubbornly refused to let her go off on her own. She was still a young squirrel after all.

On the night before they were to travel back home, SilverRose tucked a note underneath her mother’s pillow. It said that the call of adventure was just too hard for her to ignore. She didn’t want to disobey her parents, but she had to do what she felt was right.

After collecting her daggers, bow, and healer’s pouch, SilverRose left on a journey that would change her life forever.

SilverRose wandered for about a year alone, which was hard for the young squirrel since she had always had her parents to guide her. Through many trials and errors, she taught herself to survive in the wild or she found odd jobs in neighboring villages that paid for a room or a nice meal. Along the way she met several friends, specifically a sparrow named StarFlash, a former resident of Redwall, and a hare named Monera. They traveled for a short time together, but SilverRose finally grew homesick and started back towards Redwall.

When she was only a few days away from Redwall, she heard the sounds of a struggle in a nearby clearing. She leapt into the trees and found that StarFlash and Monera were both being attacked by a savage group of vermin. Though new to battle, SilverRose fired an arrow at a weasel, slaying him. This gave StarFlash and Monera the chance to escape. At first, SilverRose was stunned. She had never killed a creature before and after learning how to heal, she almost felt like she was betraying her skills and her promise to her mother.

Shaken, she turned to leave and found her eyes locking with those of a black squirrel. His paws were chained to a line of slaves who were guarded by several more vermin. SilverRose was so startled and angry, that she wasn’t aware of another small battle that was occurring until someone struck the tree that she was in. The young maid looked down and, much to her horror, she saw her mother Rosefern fighting a huge ferret.

Without thinking, SilverRose dove through the branches to help her mother, and was promptly struck to the ground by a vermin. She struggled to get up, but the fox grabbed her around the throat and struck her brutally across the head. The last thing she remembered before blacking out was the ferret stabbing her mother.

SilverRose awoke to find herself in slavery to a ferret named Delaclore. The black squirrel, Meselo, tended to her wounded head and told her that she was lucky to be alive. When she asked of her mother, Meselo shook his head and said that he didn’t know if she had survived. Unable to bear the guilt of her mother’s death, SilverRose stubbornly believed that she was alive. Meselo played along with her little game and it wasn’t long before the two became close friends.

SilverRose’s experience in slavery is something that she rarely talks about. It was the worst thing that had ever happened to her. Deaths, whippings, torture, starvation…it was enough to drive a young maid mad. She loathed Delaclore for his evil ways and as timed passed, SilverRose began to grow sullen and cold. Her caring nature began to disappear, replaced instead by a flame of vengeance that burned inside of her heart.

The slaves were sold from time to time, but SilverRose and Meselo always managed to stay together. Finally, a wolf named Hiracio took SilverRose while Meselo was sold to another rat. Without her companion there, SilverRose grew even darker and violent. It was not until SilverRose reunited with Meselo in another slave line that she began to open up a little more. He encouraged her to help the sick or the injured, since she was gifted with healing. She might not have herbs, but she still had a gentle touch. SilverRose did as he suggested and as she saw the good she could do for other creatures, she began to warm up to life again.

One night, while they were camped in a wood with their slavers, Delaclore returned and attacked the vermin horde in order to steal the slaves. SilverRose saw a chance to get herself and the others free, and she took it. Through the confusion, she was able to slip the keys off of the guard, who had been killed, and unlock her chains as well as the chains of the other creatures. When free, they ran but, only SilverRose and Meselo would ever make it. Delaclore, realizing he wouldn’t be able to take the slaves alive, turned on them and cut them down, one by one, until only SilverRose and Meselo were left. Something snapped within SilverRose, launching her into a spell of anger. She remembers drawing her blades, but she only really recalls what happened that night in her nightmares.

SilverRose and Meselo managed to escape and he spent a few months trying to bring her out of her depression. She felt responsible for the deaths of the slaves. If only she hadn’t tried to free them…If only she had fought to protect them. It was a difficult time for both squirrels but they recovered together. Some creatures have often wondered why they never became mates, but SilverRose and Meselo have never really thought about it.

(Rp History)

Once recovered, they traveled together for some time until they came across castle Floret. While SilverRose decided to join the ranks, Meselo felt he had seen too much fighting and set out to find a peaceful place to reside. While at Florest, SilverRose quickly befriended many creatures and, at the age of 18, she decided to become a caretaker and an adopted mother to a squirrelmaid named Skeeter. She also began studying under the healers. It was a good life, but her past just would not leave her alone.

Nightmares still plagued her every night. At times, she remembered her time in slavery so vividly that she almost felt like she was living everything over again.

While at Floret, she received a letter that her mother was still alive but in captivity. It was bait to lure SilverRose out of the castle, and she willingly took it to rescue her mother. The journey was long and arduous but with a close friend at her side, she rescued Rosefern and was reunited with her family at Redwall. She was also reunited with Meselo who had once again been taken captive. Though she longed to be with her family, and with Meselo, SilverRose left to go back to Floret to fulfill her duties as a warrior. She stayed there for only a short while before traveling to Fort Emerald Bay which was in need of a healer.

SilverRose joined the fort as a foot fighter and was named head healer after she tended to quite a few wounded beasts. SilverRose befriended the fort leaders, Brooke Briar and Rockpaw Steeleye and made other friendships along the way.

During her first year at the fort, she met a squirrel named Abaddon. They fell in love, though that love was very fleeting. Abaddon left without a word to SilverRose and, after some time, she gave up believing that he would come back. Shortly after, she traveled to Fort Ruddler for a time to try out her healing skills there and met Akira Kurosawa. Though they were at first awkward around each other, SilverRose grew to love Akira. His strength of mind, his loyalty to his friends as well as to her, and his caring nature won her affections. He was one of the first creatures she shared her nightmares with, and he was there to support her whenever she woke up screaming in the middle of the night.

He came to stay with her at Fort Emerald Bay after she was injured in a battle. Their love blossomed and nothing seemed able to break it apart.

Unfortunately, their love would be tested many times over. Within a year, Abaddon returned. He was unaware that SilverRose had found someone else and expected everything to be the same. SilverRose was heartbroken when she told him that she had moved on and fallen in love with someone else. Abaddon flew into a fit of rage and threatened that he would return to destroy her. He left hateful messages for her and seemingly vanished, leaving only his memory behind.

SilverRose and Akira had a few months of peace before Abaddon came back. He attacked her both physically and mentally but Akira and Skeeter were both there to protect her. At one point, SilverRose considered leaving the fort to lead Abaddon away from her family and friends, but Akira stubbornly refused and forced her to stay at Emerald Bay.

For a couple of years this love feud continued. Abaddon would attack for a few months and then vanish without a trace, leaving SilverRose just enough time to heal mentally before he returned for another attack. Over and over again he caused her to break down until Akira taught her a few techniques to help stay calm. Every time her nightmares returned (intermingling her time in slavery and Abaddon’s attacks) Akira was there to comfort her and build up her confidence. He tried to make her mentally stronger so that Abaddon couldn’t affect her, but ultimately it was up to SilverRose to survive his attacks.

The last time Abaddon came to Emerald Bay, he kidnapped SilverRose and forced a confrontation on a hilltop overlooking the sea. She hasn’t told anyone except for Akira what happened, and she means to keep it that way. All she will say is that Abaddon is no longer around to haunt her and her family.

Shortly after this encounter, SilverRose and Akira were wedded. Akira’s sister, Kalana traveled across seas to be at the wedding, while Meselo and SilverRose’s parents traveled from Redwall to Emerald Bay. It was one of the happiest days in SilverRose’s life and she thought that their hard times had finally disappeared.

But, their peace did not last long.

Two squirrels arrived at Emerald Bay one night in search of SilverRose. They intercepted her on her way back to the barracks and trapped her in a room. One of the squirrels pulled back her hood, displaying a silver stripe on her face. The maid was named Brigel, SilverRose’s half-sister. SilverRose was then told the story of how her father Flashpaw had not always been a goodbeast. He grew up outside of Redwall and lived peacefully with his family until vermin attacked his home. He suffered an injury to the head and was manipulated to believe that he was actually part of a horde. He spent several years as a general to the troops. He fell in love with a young squirrelmaid and had Brigel with her. His troops, fearing that he was putting too much attention to his family, secretly put the mother to death. Flashpaw was terrified for his daughter’s life so he brought her to a family of squirrels. It wasn’t long after this that he met Rosefern during a battle. He had the chance to kill her, but something stilled his paw. Once again, he was injured during battle and brought back to Redwall to heal. He survived with Rosefern’s care and began to remember what had happened to him before joining the vermin.

Brigel firmly believed that Flashpaw had killed her mother and had abandoned Brigel in the woods. SilverRose was appalled and she stood by her father’s side, swearing to protect him against Brigel’s wrath. Her sister warned her not to stand in the way, but she did nothing else to hurt SilverRose.

A few months after this incident, another event threatened to tear SilverRose and Akira apart. Akira’s malevolent father captured Akira and Kalana. The moment SilverRose found out, she left Emerald Bay with Meselo and Brigel and went after her mate. The journey was long and arduous, resulting in a trip over seas, a horrendous battle, and the death of a close friend. Still, Akira was rescued and they returned to Emerald Bay.

Shortly after their journey, SilverRose discovered that she was pregnant. She and Akira went through some rocky emotions during this time, mostly because Akira was afraid that he would lose her or the child at birth. Fortunately, all went well and SilverRose gave birth to a daughter whom they named Narika.

For the last five years, Akira, SilverRose, and Narika have lived peacefully at Fort Emerald Bay and Redwall. Akira has retired as a warrior and SilverRose still devotes her time to healing. Narika is a rambunctious five-year-old, and she is the apple of both of her parents’ eyes. She’s also a stubborn little squirrel who likes to explore when her parents aren’t looking. SilverRose worries that her daughter might be taking on some of her exploratory traits. The last thing she wants is for Narika to sneak away and get snatched up by a slaver. For the most part, she and Akira have kept Narika sheltered though SilverRose is just waiting for the day when she will have to endure the knowledge of battle and death.

Now, SilverRose, Akira, and Narika have moved on to Black Arch Fort. Akira has put up his sword, and SilverRose has replaced her daggers with her healer’s pouch. Still, the itch for adventure is starting to nag the mother squirrel and she can only hope that if danger does come, she will be able to protect her family.
