Name: Sceotend "Sceo" Russet
Age: 29
Gender: Female
Species: Red Squirrel
Appearance: Sceo is a compact little creature with fur of the same rusty red coloring that graces a great many squirrels. Her eyes are a dark brown, and can switch from shining cheerfully to blazing wickedly in a terrifyingly short amount of time. She can look disturbingly nasty for a squirrel. Fortunately, though, she can usually be seen smiling, or at least looking pleasant. All four paws are black, as are the tufts of fur on her ears and the base of her constantly flicking tail.
Sceotend wears no jewelry most of the time, though at some feasts she may be seen wearing a simple necklace or bracelet, or even a tail ring. Most times, though, she simply does not care to wear anything of that sort. Her normal attire consists of a simple long sleeved tunic, usually white, worn over a pair of sandy colored breeches. Over that, she wears a knee-length, hooded brown robe with a few stitches of golden embroidery along the hem. This is fastened around her waist with a dark brown belt that is also home to a quiverful of arrows. She has also been known to wear boots from time to time, when the mood takes her.
Personality: Perhaps the best word to describe Sceo is opinionated. She seems to have an idea about most issues, though the tenacity with which she will hold to said idea will vary from willing to let it go at a mere pawful of sensible words from another beast, all the way to being quite ready to fight for the implementation of her own view. She always voices any opinions she has on a matter, usually politely, but none of us are perfect.
It is also rumored that she doesn't hold authority quite as high as perhaps she should. At the moment, these are only rumors. For some reason, though, no one is really surprised by said rumors.
Along with this, Sceo has the unfortunate tendency to hold a grudge. This isn't to say that she holds anything against the poor creature who accidentally bumped into her five seasons back, but if somebeast does something that does hurt her deeply, it is most likely going to be a fair amount of time before she forgives and forgets. Once she does decide to let go of her grudge, though, she is quite happy to make amends with whoever it was.
That being said, she also has a temper. One that matches the color of her fur. Some have said that she seems at least half mad because of the suddenness that she will turn from a cheerful, smiling creature into a chattering, raging one. However, she is in full control of all her faculties. She could probably benefit from some anger management classes, of course, but she is quite thoroughly sane.
History: Sceo was born near Redwall Abbey, the oldest of the four Russet kits. Her parents, Lilian and Asher, spent a great deal of time at the Abbey, and their children grew up playing (and learning) with the other Dibbuns. Sceo grew quickly, in maturity certainly if not necessarily in stature, and her father, an accomplished archer, was tickled pink when she begged for a bow of her own as a Nameday gift. He had, of course, already taught her to shoot.
In her 19th year, a small band of vermin started prowling Mossflower, and a few of the fighting woodlanders went to drive them off before something worse than the theft of Grandmum Acorn's apple pies tickled the ears of the Redwallers. Sceo and her father went with them. This was her first taste of adventure.
The next year, the Skipper's son set out on a quest to explore the less known regions that lay east of Mossflower, along with four or five other adventurous young Redwallers and the Skipper's equally adventurous brother. Sceo was one of his companions, and was quite happy about it. She had come of age, and it was her choice to make. Oddly enough, that day in the spring of her twentieth year was the last time she set eyes on the red sandstone abbey, up to this point. Once she stepped into the wandering life that was so different from that at the Abbey, it was almost impossible for her to return. And perhaps it was impossible for her to return: when the rest of the questers turned around after a season of travel, she continued onward.
And she continued to travel and wander, mostly on her own though sometimes with a companion or two, should it be convenient. She finally began to think about returning home once more in her 26th year. In fact, she had slowly started to wend her way back towards Mossflower country when she heard about Black Arch Fort.
She was not yet ready to lay down the life of the adventuring warrior. And so she came to Black Arch.
Skills and weaponry: Sceo is a squirrel, and a smallish squirrel at that, and so she is a natural born climber. Of anything. Her father taught her how to shoot a shortbow, and through the years she has continued to practice with it. She's not quite the stuff of legends, but she's not exactly a poor aim, either. Also, traveling among otters and shrews taught her how to handle a sword well enough to defend herself. She can also speak with some persuasive ability. If one often has ideas, it is generally a good thing to be know how to articulate said ideas.
